  • How to Accept Jesus Into Your Life

    Compiled By S. E. Ray, 2006

You may currently find yourself in a spiritual state of readiness to accept God's ordained method of reconciliation with himself through the sacrifice of Jesus Christ of Nazareth. Not only a man, but fully God incarnate. God himself took the form of a man, in the person of Jesus Christ 2000 years ago. Through this one man, he choose to reveal himself as a humble servant, to take on the sins of all who would believe on him and his sacrificial work. He did this only for you and each person who would call on his name. Why? Because God the Creator is a spirit of love, that is his total essence. He loved us so much that he sent his only Son so that all who would believe in him would not perish by eternal separation, but have eternal life in the regenerating presence of God. John 3:16

It was by Christ’s death that we our justified through faith. Christ being God, in his deity and perfection, took on the burden of our guilt and shame through punishment WE should have endured. Rather he stood in to bridge the gap between Holy God and us. It is written that no forgiveness can be realized apart from the shedding of blood. For life is in the blood and guiltless blood must be spilt to atone for another’s tainted blood. Our blood runs thick with rebellion and sin, however the Holy blood of Christ was spilt for the purpose of reunited our souls with God. Can you now grasp the awesome splendor of Christ’s sacrifice on the cruel Roman cross? It had to be this way for humans to share in God’s presence. Christ was the pivotal point in all of history. All other religious leaders have a grave, Jesus has no place to be found for he was gloriously resurrected into a refined spiritual state that all who follow him will eventually realize.

To move into the place of regeneration of your soul, you must come to understand some primary facts so that the doors of your heart are properly open to allow the migration of God's Holy Spirit.

    • A person must recognize they are sinners and need forgiveness. Nothing we can do is possibly good enough to justify ourselves before the Creator. All our good works are fruitless in the attempt to justify ourselves before a Holy God. Our sinful nature completely separates us from God. Only through Christ can any man or woman be justified to approach God with confidence.
    • Next, we must admit our sins to Jesus, "If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness." (1 John 1:9)
    • It is written that we must personally receive Him, "But as many as received Him, to them He gave the power to become the sons of God." (John 1:12) This means your heart is going to be touched and changes IF you are approaching him with a humble heart of contrition. "Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life, but whoever rejects the Son will not see life, for God's wrath remains on him." (1 John 1:9)
    • God also taught us through his Spirit guided writers saying "That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation." (Romans 10:9-10)

Sound too simple? It is simple!

God made it so because he desperately wants his creation reunited with him. All humans have souls, which are the mirrored image of God's own likeness. Our individual souls are the connection that God seeks to restore and the place of longing that we need to heal. Our effort to fill this empty void lacking God is our selfish pursuit of seeking what pleases us over anything else. All sin is the reverse affect of our personal struggle to fulfill our deep need for God. If God lives in us, sin in us will die.

Here's a simple prayer to pray to God as a means of communicating your intentions for His presence to come and reside within you:

"Dear Jesus, I realize I am a sinner. I need forgiveness and to have my heart purified from all my unrighteousness. I regret my sins against you and against others. I don't wish for sin to rule over me anymore. I now believe You are the Son of God and You died on the cross for MY sins. I also believe that you rose from the dead so that I, too, may have victory over the grave. Please forgive me now dear God, cleanse my heart and mind from shame and unworthiness. Come into my heart Holy Spirit and grant renewal to my heart to live for God in Truth. Thank You, Jesus, for sacrificing your life for me and for hearing and answering my prayer. Amen"

Now seek God's help. Ask for a door to be open for fellowship with people who can guide you into a stronger unity with God the Father. He will respond to such a prayer.. this much you can be sure. All of heaven rejoices over the prayer of one soul turned to the Living God than any other event!
